AC Power Adapters & AC-to-AC Transformers

AC power adapters and AC-to-AC transformers provide AC voltage from a 240V AC mains supply for compatible electrical and electronic equipment. Unlike conventional DC power adapters, which convert mains AC into DC output, AC-to-AC transformers provide an AC output voltage.

Our range includes 9V, 12V, 16V and 24V AC power adapters and transformers, with selected models available with 2.1mm or 2.5mm DC-style plugs and bare-end output leads. Some higher-current models are designed for applications such as outdoor lighting, water features and other compatible AC appliances.  

When selecting an AC power adapter, check the required AC output voltage, current rating, connector or bare-end configuration, input voltage and application requirements to ensure the adapter is compatible with your equipment.

 

What is an AC power adapter?

An AC power adapter is a mains-powered device that supplies electrical power to compatible equipment. An AC-to-AC adapter or transformer changes the available mains voltage to a lower AC output voltage while maintaining an AC output.

For example, a 240V AC to 12V AC transformer takes the Australian mains supply and provides a nominal 12V AC output for compatible equipment.

AC-to-AC adapters should not be confused with AC-to-DC power adapters, which convert mains AC into DC voltage.
