HDMI over Coaxial Extenders & Converters
HDMI over coaxial extenders and converters allow HDMI audio and video signals to be transmitted over coaxial cable for longer distances than a standard HDMI cable can typically provide. These solutions are useful for home entertainment, commercial AV, television distribution and installations where existing coaxial cabling is already available.
There are several ways to distribute HDMI over coaxial cable. HDMI over 3G-SDI converts the HDMI signal into an SDI signal suitable for long-distance transmission over compatible coaxial cable. Another option is an HDMI to DVB-T modulator, which converts an HDMI source into a digital terrestrial TV signal that can be distributed through a coaxial antenna system to compatible televisions or receivers.
Our range includes 1080p HDMI coaxial extenders, HDMI to DVB-T modulators, HDMI RF modulators, 4K DVB-T modulators and HDMI-to-SDI converters. Choose the appropriate technology based on your required resolution, transmission distance, number of displays and existing coaxial infrastructure.
What Is HDMI over Coaxial?
HDMI over coaxial is a method of transmitting HDMI audio and video signals over coaxial cable rather than using a long HDMI cable.
A compatible transmitter converts the HDMI source signal into a format suitable for coaxial transmission. A receiver at the remote location converts the signal back into HDMI for connection to a TV, monitor or projector.
HDMI over coaxial can be useful for long-distance installations, particularly where coaxial cable has already been installed.
However, different HDMI-over-coax products use different technologies, so it is important to check whether a system uses 3G-SDI, DVB-T/RF modulation or another transmission method.
HDMI over Coaxial Extenders
For point-to-point transmission:
HDMI source → HDMI/coax converter → coaxial cable → receiver → HDMI display
HDMI to DVB-T Modulators
For distributing one HDMI source through a TV antenna/coaxial network:
HDMI source → DVB-T modulator → coaxial distribution → TVs
HDMI to DVB-T Modulators
An HDMI to DVB-T modulator converts an HDMI audio/video source into a digital DVB-T television signal that can be distributed through coaxial cable.
For example:
Blu-ray player / set-top box → HDMI → DVB-T modulator → coaxial network → TVs
This can be useful when distributing one HDMI source to multiple televisions using an existing antenna or coaxial distribution system.
