Compass Calibration for your XK Detect X380 GPS Drone
The XK Detect X380 RC GPS Drone provides outstanding performance with pretty amazing features. However, the performance of this drone relies on a number of sensors for it to function properly.
One vital sensor is the magnetic compass sensor. The compass sensor measures the magnetic force, just like a compass. This sensor is important for multi rotor drones because the accelerometer and gyroscope sensors are not enough to let the flight controller know what direction the drone is facing.
When turning on your XK380 RC GPS Drone, it is recommended to perform the Compass Calibration in a wide open field or park without any overhead powerless to influence the calibration process. Overhead powerless induces electromagnetic interferences and could be catastrophic to your drones flight performance.
It is not recommended to perform this calibration process every time the drone is flown. We only recommend to perform under the following circumstances:
- Intended on flying the drone 100 kilometres away from original calibration location
- Unintentional light or hard crash landings
- After parts of drones are replace
Once you have performed a clean compass calibration, the X380 should provide you with stable flight performance without any risk of fly aways or crashes caused by the magnetic compass sensor.
Here are the step by step instructions for your reference:
- Hold the left throttle down
- While holding the left throttle down, flick the Head Lock switch up and down 4 times
- The drone LED light will light up solid Green, you will need to rotate the drone in upright position 3 full revolutions (3 x 360 degree turns)
- Place the drone flat on the ground and perform steps 1 and 2 again
- You will need to perform step 3 again, However, this time holding the drone upright (vertically) as shown in the video.
- Complete the process by performing Step 1 and 2 again
